1. Plug in the Vehicle Charger

Insert the Vehicle Charger into the 12 volt charging port closest to the windshield. Should you find that other devices already occupy the port, remove them and plug them back into the Vehicle Charger’s 12 volt port.

Press and hold the power button on the top-right side of the phone until you see the screen turn on

3. Launch the ROVER app

Once the phone is powered on, launch the ROVER application by pressing the green “R” icon on the home screen. Rotate the Smartphone counter-clockwise, so that the power button is on the top side

4. Place the Smartphone into the Phone Mount’s clamp

Rest the top side of the phone on the top clamp. Hold the phone with one hand. With your other hand pull down on the Phone Mount’s bottom clamp. Make sure that the power button (top side) and volume buttons (bottom side) are not pressed down by the clamp.

5. Position the Phone Mount on the windshield

Position the Phone Mount on the windshield as high as possible to maximize ROVER’s view of road and minimize it’s view of the vehicle’s hood. Placing it to the right of the rear-view mirror is typically best. Make sure that the driver’s visibility remains as unobstructed as possible

6. Make adjustments for ROVER to maintain an eye level view of the road

Make fine adjustments to angle of the Phone Mount so that ROVER can maintain an eye level view of the road. The ideal frame of view should only include a minimum amount of the vehicle’s hood. Tighten the knobs on the Phone Mount to lock the positioning in place

7. Stick the Phone Mount on to the windshield

Note the position of the Phone Mount on the windshield. Peel off the protective sticker from the mount’s suction cup and carefully place the mount back in the same position on the windshield

8. Engage the suction cup and make fine adjustments

Be sure to push down the latch to engage the suction cup. If required, losen the knobs to make some fine adjustments to the mount’s positioning. When completed make sure to retighten all the knobs

9. Connect the USB cable

Choose the shortest USB cable possible for your particular installation from the two provided. Insert the larger USB plug into the USB port of the Vehicle Charger. Insert the smaller USB-C plug into the Smartphone’s charging port (on the right side).

  1. Please ensure that the Smartphone is powered by the supplied Vehicle Charger for the duration of each patrol
  2. Do not use the Smartphone’s audio input/output ports at any time
  3. The driver should power on the Smartphone after starting up the vehicle, then open the ROVER app and leave it running for their entire shift. If you have the auto-start version of ROVER, the Smartphone and ROVER app will automatically start up when the vehicle is powered on and shut off when the vehicle is powered down
  4. The screen will black out once the vehicle goes above 5 km as a safety protocol to minimize distraction while driving
  5. At the end of the shift, only remove the Smartphone from the vehicle. DO NOT remove the Phone Mount, USB Cable and Vehicle Charger from the vehicle
  6. The Smartphone should be powered off and stored in a safe location. It should be charged with the provided Wall Charger every night
